Even the Guardian appears to be supporting her blackface.\u00a0 Rachel&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blackface\" target=\"_blank\">blackface<\/a> performance is a continuing part of white history (see <a href=\"http:\/\/imjussayin.com\/blog\/blackface-is-blackface-by-any-other-name\/\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a>). \u00a0I was born black, and if I tried to call myself white, complete with skin bleaching and straightened blond hair, I would probably be locked up for insanity or a criminal offence.\u00a0 Perhaps both!\u00a0 Rachel Dolezal\u2019s shenanigans are a prime example of white privilege and racism. \u00a0Rachel&#8217;s mockery of black women is rewarded and her fraudulent conduct ignored.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2016\/apr\/13\/rachel-dolezal-signs-publishing-deal-book-race-black-white\" target=\"_blank\">Guardian<\/a> Rachel \u2018<em>was accused of misrepresenting herself as black last year<\/em>\u2019.\u00a0 Rachel admitted that she had been parading as a black woman.\u00a0 It was not an accusation.\u00a0 The story broke when her white parents <a href=\"http:\/\/legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com\/outed\" target=\"_blank\">outed<\/a> her.\u00a0 However, living in a society where white people make the rules, the Guardian can afford to use words like \u2018accused\u2019 as if it was an allegation or a question and not a fact.\u00a0 Rachel has stated on the record that she feels black.\u00a0 I find this amazing.\u00a0 One cannot feel Black.\u00a0 I am Black, and I cannot tell you what being black feels like.\u00a0 Each black person is an individual human being who comes with their own identity and culture, joys and pains.\u00a0 We are politically Black; we share a history of oppression.\u00a0 We are not a nation.\u00a0 I can tell you how racism[1. Black Girls Matter, African American Policy Forum.].\u00a0 There is a crisis with black females, but it is not making the headlines, whereas blackface Rachel is.<\/p>\n<p>Rachel has taken cultural appropriation to a whole new level; she\u2019s doing it in blackface, demanding recognition and damn she is getting it.\u00a0 Once again, like her work in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naacp.org\/pages\/our-mission\" target=\"_blank\">NAACP<\/a> and teaching \u2018African American Culture\u2019 and \u2018The Black Woman&#8217;s Struggle\u2019, Rachel is taking an opportunity from black women. I think there are far more qualified women to address the issue of race.\u00a0 Just from the top of my head there is Femininsta Jones, Roxanne Gay, Grace Amey-Obeng, Tressie McMillan Cottom and Marguerite Matthews to name a few.\u00a0 I am not suggesting for one moment that a white woman could not work as a civil rights activist at the NAACP or teach African American Culture at a university.\u00a0 However, Rachel achieved her posts by performing blackface.\u00a0 To my understanding this is fraud, and she has not been prosecuted.\u00a0 She passed off a black man, a stranger, as her father, and she adopted a sibling as her son.\u00a0 There are also reports that she has faked a hate crime against herself.\u00a0 If Rachel were black, I would lay odds on a prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>I live in a white world, but I cannot talk of a white experience.\u00a0 I live in man\u2019s world, and I cannot speak of a male experience.\u00a0 I can speak of sexism and racism. \u00a0It is a mockery that a white woman in blackface is given a publishing deal to consider black race issues.\u00a0 It is the equivalent of white people controlling the race debate.\u00a0 I believe this is where the race problem started. In 1638 a group of white people (the Colony Council 1638) pronounced that &#8220;Neither the existing Black population, their descendants, nor any other Blacks shall be permitted to enjoy the fruits of White society.&#8221; Before that \u00a0Black Africans who arrived in America mixed with Europeans comfortably.<\/p>\n<p>Wow, I ask myself how this national spectacle Rachel has managed to get herself even a low-level book deal?\u00a0 There is something wrong with this picture, and it&#8217;s simply white privilege and racism at work.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Imjussayin<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>p.s.
